Renting a car in Lofoten can be a great way to get around and explore the region at your own pace.
Renting a car offers the most cost-effective means of exploring the enchanting landscapes of Lofoten. When your travel journey extends beyond a 30-minute drive, opting for a rental car proves more economical than relying on taxi services. A range of choices awaits, tailored to your specific needs and your desire for optimal comfort.
For those opting for shorter stays (up to 7 days) or necessitating a different drop-off location from their initial pickup point, we recommend considering reputable international car rental companies. This choice ensures access to the finest deals, often allowing the flexibility to amend or cancel reservations free of charge up to 48 hours before the designated pickup time. This guidance holds particularly true if the requirement emerges to return the vehicle at a location distinct from the initial pickup site. If you are planning on a longer stay, you can ask for a price from one of the local car rental companies in Lofoten listed here.
Note: If you're arriving by boat at Lofoten Harbor - Leknes, make sure to inform the rental company that you want the car delivered at the harbor, not the airport. When making your booking, you can specify "Lofoten Harbor - Leknes" and your ship's name in the "comment" or "flight number" section.
